Galaxyneon- Panasonic launches two new slim, compact and affordable point-and-shoot cameras, the 16.1 Megapixel LUMIX DMC-FH8 (aka LUMIX DMC-FS45) and the 14.1 Megapixel LUMIX DMC-FH6 (aka LUMIX DMC-FS40). Both cameras are equipped with a 24mm ultra-wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMARIT lens with 5x optical zoom and F2.5, which is ideal for low-light shooting, and the zoom range can be extended to 10x with iA Zoom (Intelligent Auto Zoom) function with minimum deterioration of image quality thanks to the help of Intelligent Resolution technology. They are capable of HD 1280x720p video recording (FH8 in MP4 format and FH6 in Motion JPEF format).

These slim LUMIX cameras also sport Venus Engine image processor that enables Sonic Speed AF. They feature the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode that includes MEGA O.I.S. optical stabilization, Intelligent ISO control, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure. The FH8 also includes AF Tracking. Both shooters include the Panorama Shot that allows users to shoot horizontal or vertical panoramic images by taking consecutive shots and then overlaying for the effect of a panoramic photo, and Beauty Retouch and Auto Retouch. The FH8 also provides Miniature Effect mode where peripherals are defocused and saturation and contrast are emphasized to make the picture look like a diorama. Video recorded in Miniature Effect mode is played back in 10x fast-forwarding, making it comical and fun to watch.
The LUMIX FH8 comes with a 3-inch LCD display while the FH6 gets a 2.7-inch screen. The former also supports USB charing. The Panasonic FH8 is available for $149.99 in red, black, silver and violet and the Panasonic FH6 comes in black is priced at $129.99.
