iHome iW2 AirPlay Wireless Speaker

Galaxyneon- iHome Audio is launching on 1 April its iW2 Wireless Speaker System with AirPlay. The iW2 is anout 25% smaller than its predecessor, the iW1. The AirPlay speaker connects to your home network via WiFi and is able to stream music from iPhone, iPod, iPod touch and computers running iTunes wirelessly.


The iHome iW2 features two full-range speaker drivers tuned with SRS Trubass sound processing. The speaker has USB port for charging and playing iPhone, iPad and iPod, and AUX input for connecting other audio sources. It comes with a remote control.
The iHome iW2 is priced at $199.99. Though the official release data is 1 April, you can now get one from Crutchfield.

Galaxyneon - Archos launches its Archos 80 G9 Turbo ICS tablet. As its name tells, the 8-inch tablet runs Android 4.0 ICe Cream Sandwich. It is powered by a 1.5GHz OMAP multi-core processor. The ICS tablet has a 1024×768 touchscreen, a 720p camera with HD 720p video recording.

Automatic Grapefruit Segmenter

 

Galaxy neon - Kevin Martin and Hyundo Reiner from Cornell University made this Automatic Grapefruit Segmenter for their ECE 4760 Designing with Microcontrollers Final Projects. Watch the video below to see it in operation, the system first rotates the half grapefruit looking for the thick material that divides the segments. This is done by reading the feedback from a flex sensor. Once the entire half grapefruit segment locations have been mapped the cutting begins. The rotating platform presents the segment edges to a chopping blade which cuts the segment edges all the way around the fruit. The heart of the electronics is a Atmel ATMega644 Microcontroller, it interfaces to all the motors and sensors that make the system tick. We can see lots of LEGO and scavenged parts used in the rapid prototype which is a great way to keep parts out of the garbage. I can just imagine what the junk box looks like in the Cornell ECE 4760 lab!
